The Official Newsletter of the Island Rock God, Ray Fogg!!
COME LAUGH WITH ME!
The main part of my Put-in-Bay season starts this Saturday with Opening
Night at the Brewery Show Room at my NEW SHOW TIME, 8:00 p.m.
That's right a new show time! In fact, I've got a lot of new stuff planned
this year...let me tell you about it...
Earlier Show Times: Look for new show times most
nights (whether I'm at The Brewery or the Round House) to allow those folks
who need to get off the island after the show to make the last boat (but
why would anyone ever want to leave Put-in-Bay)!
At The Brewery Show Room: Did I mention a new show time at 8 p.m.
(doors open at 7 p.m.)? Also, a full dinner menu will now be available up
in the show room. So, make it dinner and a show with the earlier time! Groups
of 10 or more can reserve tickets at the bar or by calling 419-285-4677.
At the Round House Bar: I'll be doing a few special 7 p.m. shows
on choice weekends (between the day and night bands). This is something
new for me and the bar...I hope you'll join us! I'll also be emceeing special
events like The Drag Show and Bartending Olympics.
Island Hopping: I'll be going bi-island with one show at JF Walleyes on Middle Bass Island on June 25. They're located right next to the new huge state park marina!
Every Night: I'll have new songs, old favorites, new jokes, new toasts, audience interviews…you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll do the Walk of Shame!
My full summer schedule is posted on the Schedule
Page. Join me at Put-in-Bay this season sometime soon…enjoy yourself,
it’s later than you think!
NEW CD RELEASED - "ISLAND LIFE"!
Eleven
years ago I released my first CD entitled Waves, which featured
stories about Put-in-Bay. Since then, I've released four more CDs, mostly
focusing on the comedy and raunchy songs which have become so popular
at my live shows. But, through all that time, the songs from Waves
continue to be requested at my shows. Many friends and fans have been
asking for another CD that, like Waves, focused on my more serious
songwriting. Well, the wait is now over!
My new CD, Island Life, was released in late May, 2009. As the
title suggests, I've drawn on my experiences and those of people around
me to write and record songs that carry a common theme about life on an
island…full of water, sun, boats, friends, family, love and, most of all,
fun!
Islands have been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember
starting when my family vacationed on Canada's Pelee Island. For most
of my life, my family has had a house on an island. And now, I'm lucky
to call South Bass Island home. I'm at my happiest when I'm on most any
island, whether in the Great Lakes, in the Florida Keys or just about
anywhere else in the world.
Here's
some of what you can expect from Island Life…The CD kicks off with
"Shorts, Sandals and Shades", a song that kind of sums up the relaxing
island summers I love so much. One of the featured tracks on the CD is
"Lemonade", which tells the story of how Round House manager Teri
Winchester came to the island (Teri often says, "When life gives you lemons,
make lemonade"). On this CD you'll find songs about campfires on the beach,
island traditions, love affairs, fish, porch parties and more. It's not
all serious stuff…there's fun stuff too (just nothing dirty this time).
A really fun track is "The Brewery Song", which puts you right
in the center of fun at the Put-in-Bay Brewing Co. There's even
a couple parodies to keep the mood light, just as is always the case when
living an Island Life. See the CD
page for a full listing of tracks.
I'm proud of the way this CD sounds, too. Recorded at Lava Room Recording
in Cleveland, the CD was produced by Frank Romano, who has written,
recorded and performed with the likes of Rob Thomas, Justin Timberlake,
P-Diddy, Usher, Musiq Soulchild, and many more influential artists. Frank
also performs on the CD along with the other Swingin' Lesbian Frogs, yours
truly, Mike Crow on bass and Rich Carpenter on drums, who
did a great job. The result is what I believe to be my best sounding CD.
