Spring & Summer, 2008
"LOOKING BACK ON THE "OFF-SEASON"
As
I'm writing this, I'm flying back from New Orleans where I played three
fun shows. Needless to say, I'm feeling "A Might Bit Peculiar." I was
pleasantly surprised to see how many fans came to those shows. New Orleans
is a great city worthy of the great come-back that is currently underway.
The French Quarter is certainly as fun and rich with flavor as ever! Tropical
Isle owners and Bourbon Street legends, Pam and Earl, gave me a tour of
the 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish. The devastation is incredible. But,
the spirit of the Big Easy is hard to break. Thanks to everyone who came
to the shows...Aaron from Erie (who we learned will be living with his
mother-in-law again)…"Furry Tits" from Michigan (and her friend the Danny
Bonaduce look-a-like)…Bob
& Carol of New Orleans (the oldest flasher I know...with the youngest
boobs!)...Blondie from Port Clinton (who barely got her baby out of her
womb before hitting Bourbon Street)…as well as fans from Texas, Florida,
North Carolina, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Louisiana. Wow, what a
great way to end my "off-season". You really must join in on the fun next
year!
Of course, the winter was full of lots of good times. When, I wasn't performing
I tried to spend time at Put-in-Bay. The island is a great place in the
winter. Although completely different than in the summer, fun is always
there for the making as you can see by this photo of the ice party I was
lucky to live through in February. When not on the island, I had a blast
playing for you all in Columbus (always a blast in Buckeye country), Dayton
(Canal Street and Kym Brush…oh sorry, I mean Greg), Gibraltar (Sunseekers
Boating Club can DRINK!), Toledo (great sold-out show at Toledo Sailing
Club), St. Clair Shores (sold-out show again at Jefferson Yacht Club -
with the folks from DYC) and even Marblehead!...and, we had two fun nights
at Put-in-Bay Lakewood...first was Filthy Dirty Rotten Weekend with my
pals Pete & Wayne, and second was Swingers Weekend (that's right, I have
an official swinger fan base!)...Then there was the 4th Annual Put-in-Bay
Day in Key West. It's so much fun to have Put-in-Bay folks jam Sloppy
Joe's for a winter weekend…Put-in-Palooza 2008 played to a packed house
with the Swingin' Lesbian Frogs, my buddies Bob Gatewood & Calabash, Killer
Flamingos, and even Ben Dover! Next year will be our 10th Annual Put-in-Palooza
- so expect a huge party!...As much fun as it all was, I can hardly wait
for the 2008 Season at Put-in-Bay.
2008 ISLAND SEASON BEGINS
The
Round House Bar Season Opener...I'm honored to be taking
the stage once again for the official opening of the 2008 tourist season
at The Round House Bar. The Whiskey Light Celebration will be at 2:00
p.m. on Sunday, April 13. Join us for one of the great island traditions
as the light is illuminated for the first time of the season to my song
"Look For the Whiskey Light." Then I'll be at The Round House every Sunday
through May 11th for my Anything Can Happen Nights when you can hear prettier
songs than I typically sing at my shows, and usually witness some antics
by the locals. Those shows are all at 9:00 pm, except for a rare afternoon
show on May 4th.
Twinsburg,
OH...I'll have one last mainland show at Scorchers in Twinsburg,
Ohio (not Streetsboro, this year) on Saturday, April 19th. The Twinsburg
club is laid out a little better for my show, so I'm looking forward to
this one. Scorchers is very close to the I-480/Rt. 91 exit, with a Comfort
Inn right at the exit. So, this is a great chance for a "road trip" for
fans from Youngstown or western PA.
Put-in-Bay
Brewing Co. Season Opener...Then summer starts early when I
kick off the season at my main stomping ground, the Brewery Show Room,
on May 17th. I'll
be there pretty much every weekend from then through October. There will
even be a couple Thursday and Sunday shows this year as well as an early
show on July 4th before the fireworks! Carl has some new things planned
to make The Brewery even more fun. And, they plan to continue to carry
fine wines and lots of imported beer brands for your enjoyment during
the shows. So, join us for good food, good brew, fine wine and fun times!
I've got some new songs for you, new too-soon jokes and you never know
when Press House Joe might stop in to sing in German! I can hardly wait!
Middle
Bass Island...I'll be back at St. Hazard's Resort on Middle
Bass Island the second weekend in July for a Friday night and Saturday
afternoon show, returning to Put-in-Bay that night for an evening show
at The Brewery. Two islands…three shows…one Ray Fogg Show!
